Mark "sikle" Lerman, the analyst for Team Spirit, remarked that the delay in releasing the new Dota 2 patch is so pronounced due to even the most active developers being pulled into Deadlock’s development.

He disclosed this information via his Telegram channel.

“Considering the latest developments, it’s clear why the patch has not been released as per the timelines. GabeFollower writes: A substantial portion of Dota developers seem to have an interest in pursuing a move to Deadlock”

In his words, even Valves active Jeff employee, who used to frequently interact with Reddit and work on multiple Dota 2 issues, has already been in Deadlock for quite a few months now.

He also said that the level of enthusiasm which is being shown by these developers is immense, and a lot of work is being done on Deadlock so that it can be called a game. Sikle said it reminded him of the early days of Dota 2’s development.

“One way or another, Deadlock will be in development for a long time because the plans are ambitious, and there are many goals. The alpha exit won't be soon, which means the pace of Dota 2 patches will remain the same as now. Players should already get used to playing on the same patch for a long time. In any case, Dota is still being worked on, but Valve's focus is clear”

Sikle emphasized that players should be prepared for this patch cycle to become the norm, with long waits for updates. While work on Dota 2 continues, Valve’s primary efforts are now focused on Deadlock.

Previously, Valve finally implemented a long-requested feature that Dota 2 players had been asking for.
