Manager Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov of Team Spirit says that the MMR reset in Dota 2 is just a speculation at this point, but it seems like Valve needs to return to seasonal MMR resets to restore matchmaking balance.

He aired his views during a Twitch stream.

“I’ve heard about it, but no one knows if it’s true. A streamer popular in his own right decided to spread that rumor and people are talking about it. But overall, it does make sense to implement seasonal resets especially when MMR inflation is notorious out there”

Korb3n observed that although the reset is not confirmed, the existing conditions regarding MMR devaluation accompanying system inflation is excruciating. The impacts on matchmaking are dreadful.

"They had to wait a year to achieve 10,000 MMR, another to reach 11,000, and up to a year and half to hit 12,000. It is astonishing that a new MMR rank is reached in two months today"

According to the Team Spirit manager, the wait time for a matchmaking game in Dota 2 has surged to hours which would make it difficult for Valve to ignore the deterioration in the user experience. Valve might perform a seasonal rollback instead of an absolute reset.

"Waiting up to three hours for a game with no match is simply not an option. This is why Valve will have to face this problem in an acceptable way. They need to consider seasonal resets and MMR rollbacks to a threshold to break this vicious cycle”

Previously, Team Spirit manager also shared his honest opinion on Miroslav "Mira" Kolpakov's new roster.
