Erik “tOfu” Engel qualified for Worlds in League of Legends and had a chance to become a world champion before building his career in Dota 2.

This unusual fact from tOfu’s life was shared during an interview with Team Liquid.

— For those who might not know: you almost became a professional in Counter-Strike and nearly qualified for Worlds in League of Legends before switching to Dota. Are you looking forward to meeting Liquid’s CS2 team and maybe playing some lobbies with them for fun?

— I’m not sure if they’d be interested in playing with me. It would feel like I’m playing with some random low-ranked people in Dota. I don’t play many other games anymore, but I sometimes follow the competitive CS scene simply because I enjoy the game. So in that circle, I know most of the players, and it would definitely be interesting to talk with them. But besides that, my peak in Counter-Strike and League of Legends now feels like it was in another life—or even another universe.

tOfu admitted that his peak performance in other games now feels like a memory from another life. He also noted that he barely follows other games besides CS2, as this esports discipline still interests him.

Previously, Team Liquid officially signed two players from Gaimin Gladiators — Erik “tOfu” Engel and Markus “Ace” Hoelgaard.
