Team Empire Esports Director, Alexander «StrangeR» Solomonov, on his VK blog, told about the preparation for the for The International 10 qualifiers and the difficulties they faced.
It was the most spectacular and memorable TI qualifiers of my career and the most productive bootcamp with a Dota 2 roster. Thanks to all the Team Empire staff who helped organize it.
I am proud of my team, it was a real pleasure to see how the players grew every day and how the coach worked.
Hardworking Smiling Knight. Few people know that Lyokha combines e-sports with studies at a technical university. This year he entered the 4th year. It's not easy to maintain a high level of play with a busy study schedule, but the Knight succeeds.
Incredible Petushara is a player who has gained an army of fans in these qualifiers. Vlad knows what he needs to work on to become even better and stronger, everything is in his hands. To avoid unnecessary questions, I will say that the contract with Vlad was renewed even before the start of the qualifications.
Rational sayuw. In critical situations, Oleg brings the team back on track with his words and calls, which is very valuable. Since my work with him in 2019, sayuw has improved significantly both in terms of play and mentality.
Experienced Vanskor. A player who, in addition to a lot of work in the game, finds the right words to support young players and the morale of the team as a whole. It is on our supports that coordination in the early stages of the game.
A positive Shachlo who created a cool atmosphere in the team and brought something new.
The wius squad manager, thanks to whom everything was clear and according to plan.
And of course our coach Chappie, who made these qualifications so exciting. It is unlikely that someone else could have brought such an impact to this team. Vova tore opponents in drafts, it was interesting to watch how he guessed all the opponent's picks and told the team how to play and where to play against it. It was brilliant.
Now I will tell you the most amazing thing that no one else knows. 5 days before the TI qualifier we had no team! Nobody believed not only in winning the tournament, but even in winning the first match. Some people did not even communicate with each other and wanted to leave the bootcamp.
In 5 days, we managed not only to establish communication, raise morale, but also give the team confidence in the possibility of achieving a result. An incredible job has been done and the TEAM has already played in the qualifiers. Even if we didn’t win, but I think the work was not done in vain, at least 5 players saw how you can achieve the result by performing the necessary actions, following certain rules and believing in the result. Everybody got such experience and knowledge, which was needed in the future. I didn't show them anything supernatural, everything turned out to be much simpler.
I was glad to have a bootcamp with this team and I repeat once again that I am proud of everyone! Thanks to everyone who cheered and supported Team Empire, sorry for missing out a bit.
Despite the problems and changes in Team Empire roster, they were able to reach the Grand Final of the for The International 10 qualifiers in CIS region. But after a long game-day Empire got tired and lost to Team Spirit with a score of 2:3.
