Solo criticized the oversupply of Dota 2 tournaments

Alexey “Solo” Berezin believes that the modern Dota 2 pro scene suffers from an overabundance of similar tournaments, with virtually no breaks between them.

The player shared this opinion on Twitch.

"Right now, they're churning out one tournament after another. FISSURE Playground 2 just ended, and in two days, BLAST Slam 4 will begin. Two days! No preparation, no new strategies, no patches. All the same people who were at FISSURE Playground 2 were simply transported to another location. So what? Where is the spirit of competition? Where is the sporting component? They're just churning out tournaments one after another, with literally the same teams everywhere."

According to Alexey “Solo” Berezin, modern tournaments are not interesting to watch because the same participants play in an established meta without new patches, moving from one location to another. The esports player believes that it used to be more difficult to qualify for tournaments, but the championships themselves were more prestigious and attracted the interest of the audience. The player noted that if the organizers took a break between major events now, watching the next tournament would be much more interesting.

"There are so many tournaments now that... Before, you would sit and play qualifiers, everyone would fight for a slot, then you would go through them with blood, sweat, and tears, train for another month to come and play in the tournament. And the tournaments were very prestigious because they were held every few months. It was all interesting. It had a long history: invites, qualifiers, big boot camps, everyone was preparing. If there were no tournaments for a month now, there would be cool qualifiers, top teams would be invited — then I would gladly watch the tournament. But as it is... What haven't I seen there?"

Let us remind you that earlier Alexey “Solo” Berezin explained why Team Yandex started playing better after he left the Dota 2 roster.
