Airat “Silent” Gaziev stated that he was simply informed of his dismissal from the position of
Team Spirit coach, rather than being placed on inactive status.
The former Dota 2 coach made this statement on YouTube.
"No, it wasn’t inactive status; they just told me, ‘That’s it, thanks.’ I wasn’t really ready for it. Well, maybe a little. There had been talks about this even before The International. It was unexpected at the time, but this conversation took place even before The International last year."
Acording to Airat “Silent” Gaziev, his replacement on the team had been discused even after last year’s TI; nevertheless, the news of his dismisal came as a surprise to him. The esports player admitted that he was initially upset by what he heard, but his emotions subsided once the former
Team Spirit coach realized that under his leadership, the team had gradually declined, despite a temporary uptick in results during the winter tournaments.
“Overall, it was fine. On the one hand, when you’re told something like that, you get upset. But then, after thinking it over, you think: ‘Oh well. It’s fine.’ Roughly speaking, looking at the big picture, I wouldn’t say that the team and I made any real progress. We were at a certain level, stalled a bit, but then slipped down a little further. Sometimes in terms of gameplay, sometimes in terms of results. Although we took second place twice before New Year’s—but that wasn’t because we were confident we’d come and win; it just happened that way. Partly luck. After all, we were on a downward trend.”
As a reminder, Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov previously stated outright that he would be happy to see Airat “Silent” Gaziev return to
Team Spirit.
