Sergey Glamazda - the general manager of Virtus.pro gave an interview for WePlay.tv in which he talked about the creation of the youth team VP.Prodigy and their successes, as well as expressed an opinion about online leagues in Dota 2.

Sergey said that the idea of creating the second roster came up after a not-so-good result at DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major:

It turned out that in Leipzig we didn’t have a very good result, and for various reasons we made replacements. There were Egor and Vitaliy, we phoned, discussed various options for the future, and they liked the idea of the second roster. Then they selected potential players who could join them, and after a while the VP.Prodigy roster appeared.

In addition, Glamazda added, that he believed in the success of the youth team:

They are young in terms of age, but the results already are showing good. I believed that they would reach a good level, but I didn’t expect that online tournaments would have such good results. In fact, we have first, second and third places in tournaments with prize pools from $150,000, and in Gosu ranking guys are in the eighth place. I don’t put pressure on VP.Prodigy from the point of view of the result, the main thing for me is that they skill up.

In conclusion, Sergey expressed an opinion about the online leagues that appeared in Dota 2 due to the coronavirus pandemic:

LA major was canceled due to a virus. We thought: «Lord, we need to play at least somewhere now.» Some leagues appeared immediately and it was something incredible: people automatically equated these tournaments to the level of the major, while everyone was waiting for the tournament, even though it was not part of the DPC. And which of these tournaments is more important, more prestigious? The minus of online leagues began exactly at the moment when the layering happened, and every day you could watch the game. Theoretically, this is good, but for professional teams this is bad.
