Finnish researchers from the University of Tampere, Topias Mattinen and Joseph Macey studied the influence of the age group of Dota 2 players on the tendency to abusive behavior. The results of the study are analyzed to identify the most toxic group of Dota 2 players.
Principle of the study
Researchers conducted a survey of 364 players from different age categories, which was aimed at assessing the loyalty to abusive behavior in the game. The majority of respondents were men, 94.2%. More than half of the respondents play Dota 2 every day, and another third play the game at least once a week. The rest of the survey participants (11.3%) play Dota 2 from a few times a month to occasional gaming sessions every few years.

Participants were divided into 8 age groups and asked representatives of each group to rate the seriousness of perceiving such behavior from 1 to 7. An analysis of the proportion of players who gave the highest scores reveals the most toxic and agressive behavior-prone group.
Analysis of the results

The results of the study show that only 12.9% of the players take obfuscatory behavior in the game seriously. It is evident from the results that the older the player, the less inclined they are to engage in aggressive discussions. The number of players over the age of 36 who take the consequences from aggressive behavior seriously exceeds 80%.
Also, the researchers in their work noted that representatives of the youngest age category are more likely to encounter problems when searching for matches due to a low decency rating.
