A user shared a series of screenshots from conversations with one of the scammers. The scheme involves using a player's statistics to build trust, eventually leading to an invitation to supposedly play as a substitute on a team. The user is then asked to log in on a suspicious website to register.
Commenters noted that this is indeed a new scheme, as scammers have started using statistical websites to track victims and gain their trust. Others pointed out that a similar method for stealing accounts was used in CS2. Users are advised not to fall for the scam and to report scammers immediately.
As a reminder, players previously complained about a significant weakening of one of Dota 2's key mechanics.
