Vitaly “Save-” Melnik stated that he chose the support role because he was playing better in that position at the time, but the esports player had always wanted to be a mid laner.
The player made this statement on Twitch.
“I used to play mid—I had two positions: mid and four. About seven years ago, I had to choose which one I wanted to play on the professional scene. I chose the four because I played it better. But, to be honest, all this time I’ve wanted to play mid because I like mid much more than the support role. So now I can finally give it a try and see how it goes.
I think I’ll play heroes that are pretty standard for mid lane, but at the same time, I might pick someone unconventional—some of my signature heroes that nobody really plays in mid lane. So we’ll see.
But I’m not going to be a support who runs all over the map and has little net worth. I think I’ll farm, of course, because otherwise you can’t win in Dota these days. We’ll see. I still need time to figure out exactly how I want to play mid.”
According to Vitaly “Save-” Melnik, he’s always preferred the mid lane role to support, which is why he’s happy to now have the opportunity to try his hand at a new position. The esports player acknowledged that he still needs time to adapt, during which he will primarily choose standard mid-lane heroes, occasionally experimenting with characters from his usual pool.
As a reminder, Luka “Lukawa” Nasuashvili previously praised Vitaly “Save” Melnik’s progress as a mid-laner.
