Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev, who once played for
Tundra Esports, remarked that the players of the game pay for the so-called double-down tokens, thus it makes absolutely no sense to undergo an MMR reset.
This comment was aired during a twitch stream.
“Will MMR be reset? I think no. What’s the point with this reset for Valve, if double down tokens are so prevalent? It’s illogical. Not unless they reset all of the MMR to 0 or everybody has to recalibrate, which may or may not happen unless or until double tokens are done away with”
Apparently valve has other priorities apart from their MMR and as a result of their plan will earn even much more revenue, with ‘tokens’ making sense. RAMZES666 reiterated a common fact about a lot of proverty people spending their money buying tokens so they can boost their MMR.
Rank reset as RAMZES666 has emphasized is a distinct possibility since it is unclear whether Valve actually intends to remove the tokens or not, and if they do remove them, how much time it will take for them to do.
As we gather from other reputable sources, Alexander "Nix" Levin previously was reported to claim that Valve made a lot of money after the inflation of MMR in Dota 2 with the thing that is called double down tokens.
