Danil "gpK~" Skutin, the midlaner for
BetBoom Team, unexpectedly defended players whom Valve considered cheaters. The esports player stated that using Overplus should not be considered cheating.
The statement was made during a live broadcast on Twitch.
– Do you think there will be a second wave of bans from Valve?
– I have no idea, to be honest. I'm not banned, so I'm happy. In my opinion, Overwolf banned too many people. It's like not cheats. Well, there's, of course, abuse, that you can rate the people you encounter in your team... Oh, that was before, now there's no point in that anymore.
According to him, although the program allowed some abuse in the game earlier, it no longer makes sense now. He even admitted that some of his acquaintances used it during boot camps, although he did not specify whether they were his teammates or esports players from other teams.
He also believes that Valve banned too many players. Interestingly, he expressed similar thoughts about the wave of bans for smurf accounts, believing that esports players should not be punished for using them.
Recall that Valve blocked thousands of players for using the Overplus program in Dota 2, which it deemed as cheating.
