Alexey “OverDrive” Biryukov stated that the main audience for Counter-Strike 2 consists of casual players who are not part of the esports community, and it is for them that Valve releases updates first and foremost.
The analyst shared this opinion on Telegram.
“Don’t be surprised by these patches. Let me remind you that the esports audience makes up at most 2–3% of the total audience playing CS. The updates Valve releases aren’t aimed at the esports audience, so there’s nothing unusual about this. Right now they’ve added Tamagotchi, and in six months they’ll add TikTok dances for the models.
P.S. “A like for silent reloading! Now that’s a really good update!”
Acording to a statement by Alexey “OverDrive” Biryukov, the esports audience makes up aproximately 2–3% of the total number of CS2 fans, which is precisely why Valve adds entertainment mechanics that don’t directly affect gameplay for the majority of players. Nevertheless, the analyst gave the new silent reload mechanic a positive review.
As a reminder, Leonid “Chopper” Vishnyakov previously discussed how the silent reload mechanic would affect pro-scene matches.
