Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov urged Aleksandr “Nix” Levin to admit to inflating his stream viewer numbers, pointing out the suspiciously low chat activity given the high viewer count.
This happened during a Twitch broadcast.
“I decided to analyze chat activity. With large numbers, this statistic is quite telling and indicative. Over a period of 10 hours, a certain number of viewers will post a certain number of messages. There will be some margin of error, but it can’t be huge. There’s a metric that shows the average activity of authorized users in the chat.
For Nix, it’s initially low — from 3.9% to 7.8%. If you look at our stream, it’s around 10–11%, ranging from 9.7% to 13.2%. This shows that people on Nix’s stream barely write in the chat. They do post, because there are many of them, but this rate shows that a huge number of authorized users do not interact with the broadcast at all”
NS noted that the allegedly inflated viewer numbers are indicated by the fluctuating online count and low chat activity despite the high number of viewers. The former esports player suspects this is done using a hidden player and called on Nix to admit to inflating the numbers.
“Personally, it seems to me that there’s some embedded player somewhere. People close it when the match ends. From what I observed — chat message statistics, an erratically fluctuating online graph that spikes and drops, 106,000 viewers in 5 minutes — I conclude that there’s some manipulation going on. Why deny it? Just say: ‘Yes, everyone inflates, I do too.’ Instead, he starts vaguely insulting someone. I didn’t insult Nix. Anyway, I said he’s either a fool or he treats people like fools”
NS believes that Nix is treating the Dota 2 community as fools and continues to deny any manipulation despite all the evidence. In turn, the streamer previously called such accusations fabricated, explaining that NS is supposedly envious of his numbers and the fact that his audience does not switch to NS’s streams.
