Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov stated that Valve have abandoned Dota 2, as there is still no Battle Pass or event for The International 2025 — and according to him, they might not be released at all.
He shared this opinion during a Twitch stream:
"I feel like nobody’s working on Dota anymore. Have you noticed there's no event, no Battle Pass? Nothing at all. Last year, Crownfall came out in April or May, and now it's already July. If they wanted to do something, they would’ve done it by now.
The old-school players are quitting Dota, slowly walking away, and there are barely any new players. You need to attract people somehow. But I think Valve just gave up on the game. They’re probably thinking: let them play a few more tournaments for 3–4 years — and then we’ll shut it down."
Last year, Crownfall was indeed released much earlier, well ahead of The International. This year, however, there hasn’t been a single major in-game event tied to the world championship.
