Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov, a streamer and an old school pro-player of e-sports, said that the prize pool of $1.6 million for The International 2024 which was announced by Valve is not final and will rise.
He told everyone about this on his Telegram channel.
“Currently Dota has TI 2024 tab in the tournaments sections with comments everywhere saying ‘LOL PAUPERS’ and a prize pool of $1.6M which all have caused uproar. However, each TI had its start from this very sum, but then it grew thanks to Battle Pass and Compendium (from the third TI). It’s going to be just like last year again”
According to NS, he was surprised at such criticism towards Valve over the size of the prize pool as many Dota 2 fans thought that this is just what they have earned. Yet he pointed out that these are just initial numbers given by Valve annually and always get a boost by selling Battle Pass or Compendium which is likely to be announced soon.
“But probably compendium won’t be interesting either, same as last year because everything interesting has already been put into the event”
As happened during the previous season, he suspects that players may not find Compendium appealing. A lot of players were unhappy with Compendium content calling upon Valve to return full-fledged Battle Pass instead.
Recall that Valve recently announced the TI13 prize pool, adding the corresponding tab to the game menu.
