Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov believes that by emphasizing the importance of personal ranking and popularizing the game in solo, Valve made a mistake, because in fact Dota 2 is a team game.
The streamer shared the relevant opinion during a personal Twitch broadcast.
“Dota is a team game. Everything is unrealistically heavily dependent on each other. If in shooters you can give a couple frags, turn the round, in Dota it doesn't work like that.
You have to play Dota in a pack. You come up with some strategy for yourself, discuss heroes, give normal information, sit on the positive. It's going to be a lot more fun than playing solo.”
Streamer believes that by popularizing matchmaking for the sake of personal rankings, Valve has shaped players' perception of the game in the wrong way. The content maker notes that if the developers had promoted team play from the beginning, the community would have been more loyal to the game's current problems.
“Valve shoved personal rank on everyone from day one, it was different in a pack. Valve initially forced people to play solo. It's very important what happens in the beginning, the foundation.
If Valve had originally promoted playing solo, people would have been more accepting of it, maybe. More people would have played in packs more often.”
Recently, many professional players and well-known streamers have criticized the developers for the problems in matchmaking that came after the introduction of dual rating tokens. The mechanics greatly simplified the process of MMR scoring, because of which the matches overflowed with unscrupulous players.
Recall that earlier streamer Alexander “Nix” Levin accused Valve of unwillingness to solve the problems of matchmaking Dota 2.
