No[o]ne called the useless change in patch 7.39d for Dota 2

Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko stated that the Earth Spirit's damage buff at level one changes practically nothing, since even with this buff, the hero will still be unable to compete with most meta characters.

The player expressed this opinion on Twitch.

“ Earth Spirit's damage was increased by six at level one, but this does not benefit the hero overall. Any strong hero will come and defeat you.”

According to Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko, despite Earth Spirit's buff, the hero is still useless on the lane against characters such as Queen of Pain, Shadow Fiend, Monkey King, or Huskar. Moreover, even weaker heroes such as Death Prophet, Lina, or Sniper can easily deal with Earth Spirit.

"Queen of Pain will come and destroy you on the lane, Shadow Fiend will outplay you, Monkey King will easily outplay you, Huskar will chase you away. I've already named four of them. Then there's Death Prophet, Lina, Sniper. Six heroes who will simply destroy him."
