Alexander “Nix” Levin claimed that IceFrog, one of the creators of Dota 2, left the project after patch 7.33, and after that development supposedly continued without him.
He talked about this during a stream on Twitch.
“When did he leave the project? During or after the patch with portals. From my information his team ****. Right after portals were added and thats it, **** happened”
Nix noted that according to his info, the development team led by IceFrog supposedly stepped away from the project right after the release of patch 7.33. This patch is considered one of the biggest in the history of the game and is known for adding Twin Gates to the map.
If this information is true, it is possible that around that time IceFrog’s team could have joined or started working on Deadlock. Many insiders said that the project is being developed under the leadership of the creator of Dota 2.
