Alexander "Nix" Levin, a streamer and former esports player, stated that before streaming Dota 2, he earned thousands of dollars from betting and used that money to buy his first apartment.
He shared this during a Twitch stream.
"I have been betting professionally since I was 16. That means I earned my living from it. There were times when I watched Dota for 20 hours a day, analyzing it, creating spreadsheets, and placing bets. Before bookmakers fully entered esports, I was already betting a lot for many years"
According to him, he started betting at 16 but clarified that he spent hours watching and analyzing Dota 2 matches before placing bets to avoid losing money. Nix admitted that he has been doing this for 11 years. However, he noted that while he earned money for an apartment this way, some people lose their homes through betting.
"I understand that there are people who lose their apartments. I earned money for mine. So what now? Should I say it's bad?"
He acknowledged that this income has sometimes saved his life, but he didn't engage in it thoughtlessly; he analyzed carefully and approached it cautiously, which is why he remained in the green, as it's a risky endeavor.
Recall that earlier, Nix harshly criticized Valve, explaining how they destroyed Dota 2.
