To become a true esports professional and compete for one of the Dota 2 teams, it is necessary to show initiative and start with an unpaid internship in tier-2 or lower teams, which will eventually allow you to build contacts with pro players and become a manager on the professional scene.
This advice was given by Lukawa Nasuashvili, the manager of
BetBoom Team, during an interview for the YouTube channel KD ALL IN.
"Try to find organizations, smaller and more humble ones, from the second divisions. Simply offer yourself for some internship, completely for free and so on. That is, devote your free time, help managers of other teams, and try to develop, learn from others' experience, and so on"
He emphasized that it's not worth trying to immediately break into a tier-1 team and write to the most famous managers or esports players. It's better to start with less renowned teams and possibly even on a voluntary basis, which will pay off later.
"Write to, I don't know, guys, to some cool organizations that are developing, that have potential. To some cybercats, to Nemiga Gaming. Maybe, there are managers there who need some help. Initiative is sometimes punishable, but in this case, it's definitely not punishable. Nothing stops you from just trying"
Lukawa emphasized that this process is not quick and may even take several years, but there is a chance to break into the top league or even form your own Dota 2 team in this way.
It's worth noting that earlier, one of the players from
BetBoom Team was so surprised by fans' questions that he simply left in the middle of the interview.
