Stanislav «Malr1ne» Potorak, Team Falcons mid laner, suggested changing the format of Dota 2 tournaments by adding Ability Draft and Captains Draft and other variations that would bring more fun for both viewers and players

The two time world champion shared his idea during a Twitch stream

“Even at BLAST they made a show match but it was like… okay the idea itself was cool they played 5v5 with heroes from the TI final, that’s something fun. But come on take 5v5 professionals and casters and throw them into Ability Draft — that would already be real chaos. Or make a tournament like Streamers Battle. That would honestly be interesting for me too. You go into Captain’s Mode it seems normal but half of the heroes are removed and you draft from what is left. That is also interesting”

According to him Dota 2 is already a pretty complex game for viewers and such a format could attract more fans. He explained that CS2 tournaments sometimes use similar formats which the community really likes and believes that a similar step in Dota 2 would positively affect views and player emotions

It is worth reminding that at BLAST Slam 5 they already tried a similar format and held a show match where former pro players played heroes from the The International 2025 final

Earlier it was also reported that a League of Legends world champion is planning to play at The International 2026
