Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov explained that MMR inflation in Dota2 has become a problem because the game lacks a mechanism for real "selection" of the rating, and the upper limit has already reached 17,000 points.
He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
"The rating is constantly growing for one reason - the impossibility of dropping below zero. If 10 people play at a rating of 1MMR and the winners get 20 points, and the losers do not lose anything, for each such match the system "prints" another 100 points. These points are distributed according to the system and most often go to those whose win rate is consistently above 50%. As a result, their MMR grows uncontrollably"
According to him, when reaching zero, players no longer lose their rating, which means inflation continues without limits. Maelstorm believes that the first players will soon surpass the 18,000 MMR mark - the problem is only getting worse, because points are "pumped up" for those who win more than half of their matches.
Recall that NS previously spoke about the most unpleasant defeat in his eSports career.
