League of Legends will start testing Coach Voice — a feature that lets the coach communicate with the team during tournament matches, and soon the feature may become available in competitions, but in Dota 2 similar thing is still banned.

This was reported by Lolesports portal.

The tests should start next year at LCP Split 1 2026 and LCK Cup. The point of Coach Voice is that the coach can connect to the team voice chat three times per match and talk to the players.

The thing is, in LoL and Dota 2 at the moment the coach can only talk with the team during the draft phase, after that they cannot speak to the players even if they are in the same booth.

However, while in Dota 2 this rule remains unbreakable, in LoL team coaches might get more freedom. It is noted, that the innovation can radically change matches, because the coach can give important advices on changing strategy or point out weaknesses and mistakes of opponents.

If the tests are succesful, the feature may start to be implemented in other LoL tournaments. It is not excluded that if the experiment in Riot Games MOBA is succesful, Dota 2 tournament organizers could implement similar feature for coaches.
