Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov of
Team Spirit asserted that ESL made the right call by not handing out a technical loss due to the screw-up by
Team Spirit during ‘Grand Final of DreamLeague Season 25’ and instead postponing it, even if it sets a bad standard.
He gave his comments during a Twitch stream.
“ESL doesn’t care about giving a tech loss to a team in qualifiers or to a so-called ‘Backyard Edition’ tournaments. Clearly, you have to consider the level of the teams. ESL proved that they were willing to shoot themselves in the foot only by not giving a tech loss for the map. Other teams in similar situations can appeal that the map should be reset. Even if something like that happens mid-game—let’s say all five players disconnect and can’t reconnect. ESL has made themselves look foolish”
Korb3n mentioned that organizers could have acted differently if we were not talking about the tournament final. But he also explained that now all other teams may try to contest similar situations, and that is an issue.
“If it was just during the playoffs, there would be no chance this gets rescheduled. There is no time or opportunity to shift things around due to the schedule. On another note, I’ll say that in this case, they did not shoot themselves in the foot at all. It’s a completely reasonable decision”
Regardless, Korb3n asserted that the decision was indeed the correct one, as the organizers have the power to change the rules whenever they consider necessary.
Earlier, Magomed ‘Collapse’ Khalilov gave an account of the DDOS attack on
Team Spirit.
