How many arcanas in Dota 2 and how to get them all

Cosmetic items in games are by no means new. And if you're into games, you've probably heard of such terms as "cosmetics" and "skins". In short, it's just changing the classic look of the characters.

Dota 2 tournaments are now filled with cosmetic items. Every esports player tries to stand out with their hero. As a result, many players are following the trend and trying to get an Arcana for their favorite hero.

In Dota 2, cosmetic items are clothing, armor and weapons for heroes, couriers, commentators and interface styles, special items that change animations of abilities and attacks on characters, as well as personalities on heroes. None of these items change the basic mechanics of the game and the characters as a whole, which does not affect the balance in any way.

The rarity of cosmetic items in Dota 2

Valve has decided not to stray far from the usual rarity table of cosmetic items in Dota 2. The "rarity" parameter is responsible for several items, such as Drop Chance, Appearance, Quality and Number of Changes.

Rarity:

• Common - The most common items have the highest chance of being dropped and the lowest cost. 

• Uncommon - Items with a higher value than Common and a lower chance of being dropped.

• Rare - Rare items that have a higher value and a lower chance of falling out.

• Mythical - More valuable than Rare. Sometimes change the icons of the skins.

• Legendary - Very rare items, most often riding animals and couriers.

• Immortal - items that cannot be dropped in matches. Only dropped from chests. Most of the time, they can only be exchanged from a player or bought/sold on a marketplace. Most often have visual and/or sound ability changes.

• Arcana - Are the rarest cosmetic items in Dota 2. They have the largest number of changes to the hero, such as character animations and skins, ability icons, hero icons, hero sounds, hero voices and more. Arcana items cannot be removed from the arsenal. You can only get them at a certain Battle Pass level or buy them through the in-game shop or marketplace.

• Ancient - Items of this type can only be obtained during special events.

• Seasonal - Promotional items for seasons and events. Disappear after a while.

How many arcanas in Dota 2?

Arcana rarity cosmetic items have become very popular with players, as they completely change the heroes, making them unique. There are currently 24 arcana for 20 different heroes in the game. Until 2014, it was up to Valve to decide which hero would get the next arcana. But during The International 4, the game's management still decided to change the policy, and gave the game's users the option to choose through voting. 

Arcana and how to get it

Fiery Soul of the Slayer - Lina. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The very first arcana was released for Lina in 2013. Gives the least amount of changes than other arcana quality sets. Valued by players for being the very first set of this quality.

Blades of Voth Domosh - Legion Commander. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

This set has one unique feature. It includes a gem that counts victories over enemy heroes after applying Duel.

Fractal Horns of Inner Abysm - Terrorblade. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The set was released in 2014. Due to this acronym, the hero model was very different from the standard one. At the same time, the hero had three new soundtracks at his death, rebirth and buyback.

Swine of the Sunken Galley - Techies. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

Arcana on Techies was released in September 2014. The set includes a prismatic gem and a rune that displays a kill counter with Blast Off! The set also included a mini taunt on kill, but this was eventually removed.

Demon Eater - Shadow Fiend. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The arcana came out in September 2014, and like the previous sets, has the least amount of changes. Along with it, a rune was also given that counted the number of kills with Requiem of Souls.

Manifold Paradox - Phantom Assassin. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The first unique set was released for the «Nemesis Assassin Event». As the event progressed, the harness had several styles.

Frost Avalanche - Crystal Maiden. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

A set that includes two standard styles, and a third that unlocks for meeting the special requirement of breaking 50 wards. Arcana also contains an unmanageable pet, Aurora, a wolf cub that runs alongside the hero.

Tempest Helm of the Thundergod - Zeus. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The set came out with the Zeus remodel. The arcana includes only one style. The hero's voice also changes, but the lines remain the same.

Great Sage's Reckoning - Monkey King.  Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The set was released in 2016. The arcana has 4 styles at once, which change according to the level of Wukong's Command.

Bladeform Legacy - Juggernaut. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The arcana has two styles. The alternate opens after 10 kills with Omnislash.

Benevolent Companion - Io. Cannot be bought and dropped. Could be obtained on reaching Battle Pass level 245 at The International 2017.

A unique set that is a direct reference to the Portal series. The arcana is made in the form of the Companion Cube.

Feast of Abscession - Pudge. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

With this set, Valve started releasing better quality arcana. Feast of Abscession has 2 styles. To unlock the second option, the player will have to kill the enemy Rubick 12 times.

The Magus Cypher - Rubick. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

The set released in 2018 has the least amount of external hero changes, but changes all the stolen abilities of all Dota 2 heroes in green style.

Planetfall - Earthshaker. Cannot be bought and dropped. Could be obtained on reaching Battle Pass level 375 at The International 2019.

The set includes 2 styles. The second was unlocked after reaching 500 kills with Echo Slam. 500 new replicas were also available to the hero.

Flockheart's Gamble - Ogre Magi. Can be dropped in-game and purchased.

An arcana in a playful style that doesn't change the character's abilities in any way, but it does change their appearance a lot.

The One True King - Wraith King. Cannot be bought and dropped. Could be obtained on reaching Battle Pass level 375 at The International 10.

Arcana, which returns Wraith King to its original appearance. This set also has a soundtrack when a hero dies and is reborn. And a second style, which can be unlocked after killing 100 marked heroes on a special map.

The Eminence of Ristul - Queen of Pain. Cannot be bought and dropped. Could be obtained on reaching Battle Pass level 445 at The International 10.

This set has greatly changed the hero. A unique whip animation has been added to hit an enemy with a whip if he was close to the Queen of Pain.

Compass of the Rising Gale - Windranger. Cannot be bought and dropped. Could be obtained on reaching Battle Pass level 575 at The International 10.

Windranger looks like a real anime hero with this set. The arcana has a very high-quality face painting that stands out.

Phantom Advent - Spectre. Cannot be bought and dropped. Could be obtained on reaching level 330 of the Nemestice 2021 Battle Pass.

The set has a kill counter, plus adds special icons and effects for Blade Mail and Radiance items. The set also has around 500 new replicas.

Dread Retribution - Drow Ranger. Cannot be bought or dropped. Can be obtained on reaching level 333 of the Battle Pass event "Aghanim's Labyrinth: The Conundrum Continuum".

The set greatly changes both the appearance of the character and abilities. It also changes the effects when using vampirism and Force Staff.

Dota 2 tournaments are anticipated not only for the memorable matches but also for the content they bring. For instance, ahead of The International 11, an Arcana for Razor was released. It could be obtained at level 383 of the Battle Pass. The Arcana has two styles: 1 — Voidstorm Asylum, 2 — Stormlord Reborn. The first style is unlocked by default, but to unlock the second style, you need to kill 500 enemies with 100+ stolen damage. Additionally, it changes the appearance and visual effects of Phase Boots, Eul's Scepter of Divinity, and Wind Waker.

Voidstorm Asylum — Razor. Currently, it cannot be obtained or purchased.

A unique set for Faceless Void was also released in November 2022, but it could only be unlocked at level 495 of the Battle Pass. In the second style, Claszian Supremacy, the hero has a gray tint, but to unlock it, you need to kill 250 enemies inside Chronosphere in winning games. The Arcana also changes the visual effects and appearance of the following items: Mask of Madness, Maelstrom, and Mjollnir.

Claszian Apostasy — Faceless Void. Cannot be purchased or obtained by any means.

The Arcana was released with the first act of the "Fallen Crown" event on April 18, 2024. It has two styles: the first is dark, and the second is golden. The latter is unlocked immediately as part of the event, with no challenges required. It changes the appearance of two items: Phylactery and Rod of Atos.

The Devotions of Dragonus — Skywrath Mage. Can be purchased as part of the Crownfall event.

Just like the set for Skywrath Mage, it became available in the first act of the "Fallen Crown" event on April 18 of this year. However, it comes in three styles. The first two are available immediately upon purchase, and the last one is unlocked in the fourth part of Crownfall, called "Spires of Skywrath." It changes the appearance and visual effects of Force Staff along with Aghanim's Scepter.

The Resurrection of Shen — Vengeful Spirit. The set is available for purchase in the Crownfall event.

The set significantly changes both the appearance of the character and their abilities. It also changes the effects when using lifesteal and Force Staff.

Players can still acquire most of the arcanas listed above. But as you can see from the list, some of them, included in the rewards in the Battle Pass, will not be available. However, Valve has not ruled out that some of the non-tradable arcanas will be available in the near future.
