Danil “Gpk” Skutin believes that
BetBoom Team played poorly at DreamLeague Season 29 due to insufficient preparation for the tournament.
The player made the statement on YouTube.
"Before the tournament, we only played matchmaking games at home; there was almost no CW. We played one CW. It seemed to go pretty well, but it turned out that our opponents had played a lot against each other. The meta had shifted a bit, and our heroes became weaker because people had learned how to counter them effectively. In terms of individual skill, it was tough too. In my opinion, we didn’t play as well as we could have.”
The esports player admitted that the team had practically ignored preparation for the tournament, limiting themselves to matchmaking games and a single CW, with which the roster was satisfied. Nevertheless, according to Gpk, the opponents had been actively preparing by playing against each other, and
BetBoom Team’s strategies became less effective because their rivals figured out how to effectively counter the heroes in their pool. Moreover, the player admitted that the members of the
BetBoom Team roster also showed a weak individual level of preparation, which is why the team’s result could have been even worse than a top-8 finish.
As a reminder, Danil “Gpk” Skutin previously commented on
BetBoom Team’s victory in the grand final of the PGL Wallachia Season 8 Dota 2 tournament.
