Artem “fng” Barshak said that the main difference between League of Legends and Dota 2 is the presence of a special threshold for beginners, which allows for a smooth understanding of MOBA.
He revealed this during a stream on Twitch:
“Actually, the entry threshold for LoL is high too. But you know what the thing about LoL is? It's that you can just enter it, and you have some of the heroes limited. So you kind of have this threshold created for you, but you swim in it normally. In Dota 2, I already told you, you go in - a huge map, you don't know what the hell is going on, mechanics on mechanics - it's not clear at all. In LoL... Well, I say, I played LoL - well, there is really easier”
According to him, playing LoL is also not easy, but it is still clearer for beginners. He explained that in League of Legends there is a limitation on heroes - they open gradually, which makes it easier to adapt. In Dota 2 the whole pool of characters is available from the beginning, but the map is bigger and the number of mechanics can be confusing.
He also noted that he personally played both LoL and Dota 2, and that's why he is sure that MOBA from Riot Games is easier to master.
Earlier Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko named the best midlaner in the history of Dota 2.
