Dmitry “Fishman” Polishchuk said that he started playing as a support in Dota 2 because of his weak computer with a low frame rate. The esports player also noted that it was easier to get into a team with his MMR as a support.
The player talked about this on YouTube.
"It was my choice. At first, I played in the first and third positions for some time. But then I played on my laptop at university and it started to lag, the FPS in the game dropped. Plus, I wanted to go to local tournaments, and supports were taken with a thousand rating less. Well, good players, because there were more high-rated cores, and there were low-rated supports... There were just cows — first, second, third position — there were 20 people there, and there were a couple of people with the same rating in fourth and fifth position. But there were more people below that rating. And so, playing at “five” and having a rating of 6,000, I could play with players with a rating of 7,000.
According to Dmitry “Fishman” Polishchuk, the main reason for choosing the support role was the desire to get into the Dota 2 pro scene, despite the low performance of his computer. The esports player believes that it is easier to play support with low FPS. However, he also added that he did not regret his choice, as he quickly got used to the support position and began to gain MMR.
"But the most important reason is that my computer was not working well and my FPS was dropping. I wanted to get into esports back then, so to speak. I needed to play. And it's easier to play support with a bad computer, so I played support. And most importantly, I didn't lose out. My rating started to go up, and I started to do better. And, in principle, I really like playing in this position. It's very interesting."
Let us remind you that earlier Sergey “LenaGol0vach” Karnaukhov called players in support positions the weakest representatives of the Dota 2 pro scene.
