The esports organization
Evil Geniuses has officially announced that it is ceasing operations.
The announcement was published on the organization’s official website.
“Evil Geniuses will cease its competitive activities and operations effective November 2.
This decision was made after extensive efforts to develop a sustainable growth strategy for the organization. Unfortunately, the esports industry continues to face challenges, including limited sponsorship and investment, combined with ever-rising costs associated with participating in top-tier tournaments.
Despite EG’s ongoing investments and dedication, we have concluded that it is impossible to run the business responsibly under the current circumstances.
For more than 25 years, EG has remained one of North America’s most recognizable esports brands, with a legacy built by players, coaches, content creators, and the entire fan community. We thank everyone who has contributed to our growth.
We intend to wind down our operations in an orderly manner, working closely with everyone affected by our decision.”
According to the esports organization’s announcement, it faced a funding shortfall amid rising costs associated with participating in major tournaments.
Evil Geniuses representatives thanked all the players and staff members who have helped shape the organization’s legacy. The organization also promised to cooperate with everyone to whom it owes any obligations.
As a reminder, Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev previously revealed the amount of his salary as a member of
Evil Geniuses’ Dota 2 roster.
