Anton “Dyrachyo” Shkredov stated that after Valve’s CS2 update introducing skin crafting, he and his girlfriend, Evgeniya “Sony9sha” Elizarova, lost a significant amount of money, as they had invested in knives and gloves.
The esports player shared this during a Twitch stream:
“I decided to invest in CS skins back in June. Evgeniya and I put money into knives and gloves. And then the update dropped. I’m still curious about how much our skins will be worth now. When I bought the gloves, they cost 60,000 rubles. I could have sold them for 300,000 before the update. Looks like all the investments went down the drain. I even thought that after the December Major, the skins would rise in value. And then Valve releases an update where you can craft an insane knife from the MAC-10 ‘Neon Rider.’ All the investments are gone. I honestly don’t even know who makes these decisions. It’s just…”
Dyrachyo noted that he had purchased quite expensive skins, and just from the gloves alone, he lost around $3,400 before the update. Acording to him, he and Sony9sha had invested a lot, but after the market crash, that money is likely unrecoverable.
However, he added that some of the skins were bought just for fun in the game, so maybe it’s not worth being too upset.
It’s worth noting that Valve’s knife and glove crafting update crashed the skin market, which has already lost over $1.2 billion in value.
