Tundra Esports did engage in negotiations to buy the entire roster of
Gaimin Gladiators, but the team declined. Perhaps the main reason was that Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen could replace the current midlaner Quinn "Quinn" Callahan, which was unacceptable for the teammates.
Anton "dyrachyo" Shkredov revealed this during an interview with the YouTube channel KD ALL IN.
"All these discussions may have happened, but they didn't happen because that's the way it had to be. The likelihood of successful negotiations was there, but it was about 1 in 100. But obviously, everyone wanted to play in GG. I can't fully disclose the contract"
Based on his statement, negotiations did take place, and although he couldn't reveal the specifics of
Tundra Esports offer, there were terms that didn't suit the
Gaimin Gladiators roster.
"It could be that we moved to Tundra, and there, Topson is a substitute, not Quinn. That's how it could have been, but not in our minds, but in Tundra's minds"
According to dyrachyo, the team didn't like the possibility of playing without Quinn, which became one of the main reasons for the breakdown of the negotiations.
It's worth noting that rumors of the GG buyout have been circulating for a while, but they never materialized. The club's management has not officially commented on the negotiations.
Earlier, Jingjun 'Sneyking' Wu explained why Topson didn't leave
Tundra Esports when the other members of the roster departed.
