The lack of a surrender option in Dota 2 negatively affects the gaming experience for users, leading to an accumulation of toxicity in the community and a decline in the project's online player base.
This opinion was expressed by Andrei "Dread" Golubev, a streamer and former professional esports player, during an interview with Cybersport.
"Toxicity in this game somehow seeps through. Where does it come from? I think it's because you can't surrender. As a result, you are forced to spend another 10-15 minutes in a game where clearly nothing is working for you. You and your team will be stepped on, and you'll be getting negative emotions because of it. Meanwhile, the opponents won't enjoy it much either—it's not very interesting to finish a game that's already won"
He emphasized that the accumulated negativity carries over into the next matches and turns into toxicity. He believes that compared to other MOBAs, Valve's game has genuinely toxic players, and this issue needs to be addressed for the future of the project.
