DOTA: Dragon's Blood - All the Dota 2 characters from the Netflix series

Defense of the Ancients, or simply Dota, is a huge franchise that has been around for 19 years, and it has not left the gaming community for a long time. And now, on March 25, 2021 an animated series based on this universe, "DOTA: Dragon's Blood" was released on Netflix. A year later, on January 18, 2022, Valve and Netflix released the second season of the series.

The title of the series may lead one to think that it will be about the dragon knight Davion, but in fact it is only one of the storylines. But it is worth noting that, although there are 121 heroes available in the game, only a tenth of the playable characters are provided in the anime. And on top of everything else, the sympathy of the audience for the animated character Marci, prompted the developers to add her as a playable hero for Dota 2.

And while the list of heroes may be updated with the release of the final season of DOTA: Dragon's Blood, we'll take a look at all of the heroes that appear in both the game and the series so far!

All characters from the anime and the game

Dragon Knight

In the Netflix series, Dragon Knight, or Devion, is one of the main characters in the anime. Davion is a professional dragon slayer from the knightly order of the Dragon Hold. When he was a child, Davion lost his entire family to a dragon, which is actually why he went to be a dragon knight. But despite his hatred for these creatures, in the battle of the demon Terrorblade with the dragon Slyrak, the young knight helped the latter, for which the bleeding dragon thanked him... with a claw in the neck, thereby moving into the body of the knight, after which Davion had a curse, which allows him to take on a dragon form.

Mirana

Princess of the Moon Mirana, protector of the temple of Selemine, is an archer on a huge cat named Sagan. After the magic lotuses were stolen from the temple, Mirana failed to shoot the thief, after which she went into self-imposed exile to retrieve them. On her journey, she met Davion. At first, she is cold and distrustful of the Dragon Knight, but later becomes close to him and even falls in love. Unlike her companion Luna, she does not approve of the extermination and enslavement of adherents of other faiths.

Marci

Marci is Mirana's mute, adorable bodyguard and moral pet, as well as the main generator of cuteness and savory fist punches throughout the animated series. For allies, she is a merciless and honest protector. For opponents, it is a fearless obstacle on the way to those whom she considers a friend. The audience liked this character so much that Valve decided to release it as a playable hero for Dota 2.

Oracle

The Oracle is the first hero we see in the anime. Without proper attention to him, you can see that the Oracle is watching from above - providing some important backstory about the anime's main villain: Terrorblade.

Terrorblade

Terrorblade is the main villain of the animated series, an evil demon who secretly plans to remake reality and for this he needs to steal the souls of Ancient Dragons. So far, he is a prisoner in a prison for demons and plots from there, moving into the bodies of other creatures.

Invoker

Invoker is a powerful elven hermit mage who lives in a secluded tower in the mountains. He is quiet, withdrawn and cold, and rarely shows feelings. Once he met with the goddess Selemine, who gave birth to his daughter Philomena, but then left her with the child. Later, the girl fell ill with an unknown, incurable disease, and her father, desperate to find a cure, was forced to turn to her mother for help. She refused to help them, and Philomena soon died. Since then, Invoker has been angry with Selemine, so he helps Fymryn, who stole the magic lotuses, and then makes a deal with the demon Terrorblade - seven souls of ancient dragons in exchange for the opportunity to take revenge on the goddess who betrayed him

Luna

Luna is a former mercenary nicknamed Scourge of the Plains, now Selemine's best warrior and commander of the Dark Moon army. Rides a lion named Nova. She was sent by her goddess on a crusade against the heretic elves in order to convert them to her faith. She fiercely believes in the salvation of her own soul.

Pangolier

Named Niko Hieronimo, he appeared as Luna's cellmate in the prison, showing a strong admiration for Luna's ferocity. While not exactly Dota's Pangolier, he comes from the same clan, Nivan Gallants. According to legend, the Nivan Gallants are an organization of a pangolin-like race that lives for swordplay, romance, and adventure.

Lina

Lina is a warrior of the Solar Empire, a strong pyrokinetic magician, who, according to one version, is a descendant of dragons. A staunch democrat who wanted to rid the Empire of a bad ruler and usurper. She ended up trying to kill Mirana and was killed for it by Kashurra.

Crystal Maiden

Rylai, the Crystal Maiden, makes her first appearance on Auroth, the Winter Wyvern, rescuing the few remaining Knights of the Dragonhold after Terrorblade's vicious advance.

Winter Wyvern

Aurot, the winter wyvern, proves to be a valuable ally in Davion's upcoming journey. She is one of the few talking dragons and still loves writing. A powerful, ancient creature that is also very charming.

Sand King

There was a brief appearance by the Sand King leading an army of arachnids in battle against the Imperium. Although, to be precise, the story says that the Sand King is not a human, but the desert itself - he only takes on a scorpion-like form in order to better communicate with ordinary beings.
