The International 2024 will have the shortest offline stage in the history of the Dota 2 World Championship, lasting only three days. The rest of the competition will take place online.
Commentator Alexey "Lex" Filippov reported this feature of TI13 on his Telegram channel.
"By the way, few have noted that this International will be the shortest for the offline audience in history. Only three days in the stadium, and the rest of the tournament stage will be no different from the recent PGL tournament"
He sadly noted that due to this feature, the tournament this season loses its global aspect and possibly even its significance. Moreover, he compared the World Championship to a regular, insignificant tournament.
"It seems the echoes of COVID are still being felt. But in fact, it is very sad that Dota tournaments have moved to a closed format. It's as if the scale of the event and the unique atmosphere are lost"
Recall that Valve previously officially published the schedule of the Dota 2 World Championship, indicating the start dates of the tournament, qualifiers, and playoffs.
