Data miner stunned with Valve’s plans for 2026

Valve allegedly will abandon the case mechanic in CS2 already in 2026, which maybe completely replaced by the Terminal system.

Such insider info was shared by dataminer Thour on his X page.

"Cases will disappear from CS2 in 2026. Who would think?"

However, he did not clarify where he got this insider info, since so far neither Valve nor other dataminers confirmed it. Nevertheless, such a scenario is not excluded, because in many countries the case system is equated to gambling.

Considering legal requirements, the developers might remove cases from the game and replace them with the Terminal system, which already exists in the game, but gives not one random item, but a choice of one out of five items.

If the info is confirmed, it could strongly affect the prices of skins and other cosmetics in CS2. However, what will happen to the cases that players still have is not clear yet.

The data miner later added that his statement was a forecast based on Valve's latest decisions regarding the Terminal. He also clarified that players would likely retain their cases, but would no longer be able to obtain new ones.
