Valve continues to change its anti-cheat system in Counter-Strike 2. After a nighttime update, players noticed an important change related to anti-cheat and how bans are displayed in matches.
Now, instead of the usual VAC ban message, the game started showing bans from VACNET — Valve’s newer system responsible for detecting cheaters.
Players also noticed that after the update it became possible to see exactly who received a ban during or after a match. Previously, the system usually displayed a standard VAC notification without additional details, but now in some cases VACNET is specifically mentioned.
The community believes Valve is gradually moving CS2’s anti-cheat toward a new detection system. VACNET has been used for a long time to analyze suspicious player behavior, but now the company seems to be integrating it more directly into matchmaking and punishment systems.
Amid constant criticism about cheaters in CS2, many players reacted positively to the changes. Social media already filled with jokes that “VAC finally woke up,” while some users hope the updated system will detect offenders faster and clean Premier mode from cheaters.
