Sébastien Ceb Debs believes that modern Dota 2 lacks creativity, with players often resorting to repetitive solutions in every game.
This opinion was voiced by the captain of the current
OG lineup during a podcast on the Cap Casts YouTube channel.
"I miss the creativity in Dota 2. It's still an important part of the game, but not as it used to be. It's evident in hero picks, item builds, and sometimes in lane setups. Where did the 'trilanes' go? I miss all that a little bit. Previously, you had to consider so many options - they could change lanes, turn into a 'trilane,' or two could go mid. And now everyone does the same thing - before runes, after runes, check something there, build the same items.
I criticize players who use the same build in every game. Because I think it's wrong. The guy doesn't think about the game. He doesn't think about which heroes are against him, which are with him. I've always said that every game is unique. There can't be a chance that you'll need the exact same build. But I've changed my mind. In 9 out of 10 games, there's the most effective build, and that's it. I think all the players who have reached this level are incredibly talented and creative, overall very smart. But we don't see that as much as we could, I believe."
Ceb also noted that the map update has improved the game, as amid the recent trend of players' repetitiveness, the innovations have added diversity by expanding gameplay possibilities. The esports player highlighted the positive effect of adding paired portals, increasing farming speed, expanding camps, and changes in the economic balance.

It's worth recalling that earlier Sébastien Ceb Debs also commented on his initial impressions of playing support amid the recent position change in Dota 2.
