Bard Frog in Dota 2: what abilities the new hero will have and its unique mechanic

Bard Frog, who is set to become the new Dota 2 hero, has already appeared on the game's test servers, and data miners have managed to uncover the first details about the character.

Bard Frog's special feature

As can be seen from the data miners' early findings in the game code, Bard Frog will likely have an additional ability panel, which will set him apart from most Dota 2 heroes. Judging by this, it will work similarly to Kez, Invoker, and Ringmaster, who also have a second ability panel. So far, the code name for the mechanic in the game is listed as LuteHero.

Bard Frog's abilities

Team Spirit analyst Mark “Sikle” Lerman has already noted that the game could have simply added a hypnosis mechanic and that it could be preparation for Bard Frog. Given the hero's code name, it can be assumed that his abilities will be related to music.

Based on this, we can assume that the hero will be able to control enemy heroes or creeps using hypnosis. The names of abilities related to toads that have not been used in the game have also been found: toad_battle_croak, toad_tongue.

What Bard Frog will look like

It is not yet known exactly what Bard Frog will look like, as data miners have not been able to find the hero's models. However, given his name, we can conclude that he will resemble a toad and carry musical instruments with him.

It is possible that the hero will be very similar to the amoeba creeps that appeared in the game in 2025. It's worth remembering that the Bard Frog hero is already being tested on Dota 2's experimental servers.
