The world of eSports is set for another exciting event as the Bali Major 2023, the third and final Major of the Dota Pro Circuit season, is all set to kick off in Bali, Indonesia. This marks the first time that a Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Major is being held in Indonesia, signifying the growing influence and popularity of eSports in the region.
Following an intense group stage, the Bali Major playoffs have commenced. The playoffs are the last opportunity for the remaining teams to secure Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) points and potentially earn an invitation to The International 12, scheduled for October 2023.
Bali Major Playoff Format
The playoffs are divided into an upper and lower bracket, with teams competing in best-of-three matches. Teams that lose in the upper bracket are not immediately eliminated but are instead relegated to the lower bracket for a second chance. However, a loss in the lower bracket means elimination from the tournament.
This structure provides a thrilling dynamic, as teams vie for the coveted championship and a share of the 3,500 DPC points on offer. With six slots still up for grabs, teams are eager to secure their tickets to TI12 here and now, rather than face the uncertainty of the Regional Qualifiers.
Bali Major Playoffs Schedule and Results
The playoffs began on July 5, with the upper bracket quarterfinals seeing Team Liquid, BetBoom Team, Gaimin Gladiators, and Quest Esports emerging victorious. The lower bracket round 1 kicked off on July 6, with PSG.LGD defeating Team Spirit.
The playoffs continued until July 9, culminating in a grand final where Gaimin Gladiators defeated Team Liquid with a score of 3 - 1.
Betboom was awarded a technical defeat in the match against Tundra Esports because a player named Pure violated tournament rules by watching Nix's broadcast.
