With the release of the Monster Hunter crossover in Dota 2, the Hero Atlas appeared — a new mechanic that allows players to unlock more notes about heroes and the game’s lore by participating in matches.
How the Hero Atlas works
The system is quite simple and doesn’t require any special actions. In a book styled like an album, after each match, players will unlock hero stickers and interesting facts from the game’s lore. You just need to play normal or turbo matches to make progress.
Features:
When entering the game, the player gains access to the atlas where a list of collectible heroes is displayed.
During a match, you can encounter a target hero and by killing him or participating in the kill, you will receive the corresponding “sticker”.
A successful victory over the target brings more rewards then a loss — however, progress is saved anyway.
According to the official novella, the journal is kept by a character named Mila G., a writer dedicated to chronicling the exploits of the hero Axe. After he decided to take a vacation, Mila was left without stories and turned to player-readers for help in collecting tales of other heroes.

It’s worth noting that no significant rewards for completing the Hero Atlas are yet provided, and the mechanic is more like a bonus to matchmaking, allowing players to immerse deeper into Dota 2’s lore simply by playing matches.
Previously, it was also revealed that in Dota 2 you can get your own unique dragon from Monster Hunter.
