A Brazilian politician is ready to resign if he loses mid in Dota 2

An unusual conflict between politicians and the gaming community has broken out in Brazil — the argument escalated into a Dota 2 midlane challenge with a promise to resign after defeat.

Chandy Teixeira, who heads the gaming and esports department in Rio de Janeiro, criticized Brazilian politicians for trying to use the popularity of video games to gain votes from gamers.

According to him, many officials only put on esports team jerseys and remember Dota 2 exclusively during election campaigns.

Teixeira stated that the gaming community should start promoting its own representatives into politics instead of supporting people who only try to look “relatable” for PR purposes.

His comments received a sharp response from congressman Kim Kataguiri of the Brazil Union party. The politician not only joined the argument, but also предложил settle the conflict directly in Dota 2.
